You have a big event coming up, and you want to look and feel absolutely gorgeous – I got you! Whether youre a wedding guest, getting ready for prom, or just going to a party, here's everything you need to do in the week leading up to your big moment. I even have a breakdown for the final 24 hours. Trust me on this, these prep tips will have you looking and feeling your best.
1 Week Before: Whitening Strips
You deserve an extra white, bright smile in all your photos, so start your smile prep by using whitening strips about 5 days before the event. Your smile will thank you, and you'll look flawless in every picture. If you want a noticeable difference, you'll need to give it at least 14 days, but typically, 5 days is just enough for me to notice a difference.

Crest Whitening Strips are often readily available; you can pick them up at Target, Amazon, basically anywhere.
If your teeth tend to be on the more sensitive side, I have found Luminex to be a bit more gentle.
3 Days Before: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
This one's an easy one to forget: water, water, water! Dehydration can dry out your skin, mouth, and tbh your mind. If you start drinking water and meet your daily intake, you are giving your body what it needs to feel and look good. And you need to drink it consistently throughout the day, chugging a gallon right before bed isn't it. Steady hydration all day long is what gives you that glowy, plump skin.
24-48 Hours Before: Frownies Time
Okay, I know people are gonna have opinions, but hear me out.
Do I think Frownies do anything long-term for my skin? No.
But do I notice a difference when I sleep with them on and wake up the next day? Absolutely yes.
Frownies are basically stiff stickers for your face. Most people don't realize they make funny faces while they sleep, and those funny faces are causing some deep wrinkles. When I use my frownies, my forehead feels stuck when I wake up, almost like the muscles were frozen overnight. I don't know what it is about them, but they work for that next-day smoothness. Use them for 2 days and you'll begin to notice when youre making those funny faces.
24 Hours Before: Start with Tea
Like literally, tea. We want anything that's gonna make your stomach go "gurlge gurlge" to start processing the day before. There's nothing worse with feeling like youre contstanly running to the bathroom on a big day. Herbal teas like chamomile, lemon, and ginger will be your best friends right. The goal is to get everything moving through your system so you feel light and comfortable the day of. We are NOT taking any risks with bloating, stomach aches, or gassiness.
10-12 Hours Before: Get Your Beauty Sleep (Seriously)
Yeah you need sleep, but beauty sleep is called beauty sleep for a reason. Beauty sleep is sleep that is so restful that when you wake up you LOOK and FEEL refreshed.
Set aside a good 10-11 hours. Yeah, you heard me right - 11 hours at least!
This is in case you can't fall asleep right away, in case you have bad dreams, in case something happens, and you just don't get quality sleep. That extra time will give that buffer so you can actually get the rest you need.
Set an alarm to remind you when it's time for bed, and stick to it. Your body will thank you the next day.

30 minutes Before You Do Your Makeup: Do a Face Mask
Right before you do your makeup, do a face mask. The mask you choose will depend on your skin needs, but I like to opt for a hydrating mask. Hydrating masks deepen the moisture and can soothe irritated skin. If you don't typically use face masks, I would NOT recommend trying a new mask - it's not worth risking an allergic reaction the day of your event.
Stick with something you know works for you - ideally something super hydrating that gets your skin refreshed, plump, and ready for makeup. That's what we want.
My go-to? The Peach and Lily Glass Skin mask. After I use it, my skin visibly looks like I did something - it's so beautiful and glowy.
Follow these steps, and you'll show up to your event looking absolutely stunning. What are your go-to prep tips? I would love to hear them in the comments
